OONA LAURENCE

Oona Laurence was born into an acting family in New York. She has two younger sisters, Aimée and Jetè, who are also actresses, as well as an actor father who helps them prepare for roles and auditions. Oona started her career at age five, playing the lead role in her father’s experimental short film, Days Dance.
After several appearances in regional theater productions, including playing Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird at the Children's Acting Academy. In 2012 she auditioned for the musical Matilda on Broadway. Oona managed to score the lead role as Matilda, and performed in the show from March 4, 2013 to December 15, 2013. For her performance, she and the other three girls who shared the role of Matilda received a Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre award in 2013.
When Oona finished with Matilda, she transitioned to film acting, and appeared in movies such as A Little Game (2014), The Grief of Others (2015), I Smile Back (2015), Damsel (2015), and Lamb (2015).
In 2015, she portrayed the daughter of Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdam in the movie Southpaw, and in an interview, co-star Jake said that meeting Oona made him want to be a father. Oona has also appeared on television shows such as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and Orange Is the New Black. In 2016, she appeared in supporting roles in the feature films Bad Moms and Pete’s Dragon.
In her spare time, she is an avid reader, and her three favorite books are Matilda, The Hunger Games, and The Two Princesses of Bamarre. She also take dance (modern, jazz, hip hop, Samba and ballet) and singing lessons. She enjoys riding her bicycle and ice skating in her spare time.
