NEEL SETHI

Born and raised in New York City, Neel Sethi (pronounced Sedee) was chosen by director Jon Favreau from amongst 2,000 boys who auditioned to play the starring role of Mowgli in the live-action version of The Jungle Book (2016). As the son of two dentists, he'd never considered acting until his dance teacher recommended he try out for the role.
When he's not acting, Neel love playing any kind of sports, but his favorites are basketball and football. In addition to Indian dance lessons, he studies Taekwondo and is working towards getting a black belt. For his role as Mowgli, which required stunts such as swinging from vines, Neel did parkour training in preparation.
Neel lives with his parents, his older sister and their dog in New York City.
