MIRANDA COSGROVE
Date of Birth: May 14, 1993
Born in Los Angeles, Miranda Cosgrove became a face to recognize at a young age. With her roles in kids’ television programs and her charismatic personality, Miranda made her mark as a child star. She is the only child of her parents, Chris (mother) and Tom (father) Crosgrove. Her father works as a dry cleaner so while growing up, she thought it was normal to always have her clothes dry cleaned.
While doing an impromptu singing and dance performance at age three in a restaurant where her parents were dining, Miranda was spotted by an agent. He saw potential and convinced her parents to allow the girl to sign with his talent agency. She began her career with commercials for fast food chains. At age 10, she landed her first non-commercial role in the movie School of Rock (2003).
Miranda became a high profile child star on the Nickelodeon TV series Drake & Josh and when she landed the lead role of Carly on iCarly she became the second-highest paid child star on television (after Angus T. Jones from Two and a Half Men). Miranda was named the “highest-paid child actress” by the 2012 Guinness World Records thanks to iCarly, making $180,000 per episode. She has a soundtrack album out for the show for which she performed four songs. Her debut album Sparks Fly was released in 2010. Miranda has won many awards for her performances such as “Favourite Female TV Star” at the 2008 UK Kids’ Choice Awards, and “Choice: TV Actress: Comedy” at the Teen Choice Awards. In 2010 Miranda became a spokesmodel for Neutrogena.
Her education is very important to her so Miranda has not let her work interfere with her studies. While growing up, Miranda was homeschooled. Currently she is taking a break from acting and shifted her focus to her film studies at the University of Southern California.
In her spare time, Miranda enjoys playing guitar, horseback riding, shopping for vintage clothes and collecting purses. Her allergies to cats won’t keep her away from the furry creatures, as she has her own cat named Midnight.
Most recently she provided the voice of Margo in the animated comedy sequel Despicable Me 2 and the third film in the series, Despicable Me 3 (2017).
