Michaela Watkins was born in Syracuse, New York to Myrna and Mark Watkins. She attended Moses DeWitt Elementary School and Wellesley High School before graduating from Boston University.
She started in community theater, then moved to regional theater. It was there that Michaela performed in plays such as Hamlet (1999) and Fighting Words (2003).
In 2008 Michaela moved to television and joined the cast of Saturday Night Live (SNL). She also appeared in films as a supporting role in The Back-Up Plan (2010), Wanderlust (2012) and Lazy Eye (2016), before landing the title role in the Canadian film Suze (2024).
Michaela is also known for her roles in the comedy series The Trophy Wife (2013) as Jackie Fisher, the comedy drama series Casual (2015) as Valerie Meyers, and the sitcom The Unicorn (2019) as Delia.
She has been married to Fred Kramer since 2013.
