Michael Rainey Jr.

Michael Rainey Jr. was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Staten Island, New York. He began acting on Sesame Street and did a few commercials and music videos before hitting the big screen in his first role as Charlie in the Italian film, Un altro mondo (2010). For his part, he lived in Italy for awhile in order to prepare for the film and became fluent in Italian.

Michael has gone on to appear in such TV series as POWER and had a recurring character on the Netflix series Orange is the New Black. He’s had roles in several prominent films as well, including Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016) and as Cecil Gaines in The Butler (2013).

In his spare time, he likes to play basketball, piano, and video games. He also enjoys giving back to the community through involvement in helping the homeless and the youth.

Most recently, Michael appeared as Kenny alongside Nicolas Cage in 211 (2018), the true story of one of the bloodiest bank heists in police history. ~Caitlyn Clancey
