LUCY BOYNTON

Date of Birth: January 17, 1994

Lucy Christabel Boynton was born in New York City to British parents Graham Boynton and Adriaane Pielou, both travel writers. At the age of five, she and her family moved back to London, England.

She became interested in acting at age 10, when she was inspired by her drama teacher. Lucy would land her first professional acting role at the age of 12 in the British-American film Miss Potter (2006), playing the young Beatrix Potter. Her performance would earn her a Young Artist Award nomination for Best Performance in a Feature Film – Supporting Young Actress.

The next few years would see Lucy's career grow on television with roles in TV movies such as Ballet Shoes (2007), in which she starred alongside Emma Watson; and guest roles on TV series such as Sense & Sensibility (2008), Inspector Lewis (2011), Endeavour (2014), Law & Order: UK (2014), Borgia (2011 and 2014), and Life in Squares (2015).

Her supporting role as the love interest of the lead character in Sing Street (2016) would bring her the most attention to date. She played Raphina, a sexy older girl whom Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) tries to impress by starting a rock band.

The same year, Lucy appeared in a lead role in the horror Don’t Knock Twice (2016). She continued to work steadily in 2017, starring in the drama thriller TV series Gypsy opposite Naomi Watts, the J.D. Salinger biopic Rebel in the Rye, and Kenneth Branagh’s remake of the Agatha Christie novel Murder on the Orient Express.

However, in 2018 she would make another big splash, again as the girlfriend of a band's lead singer. She played Mary Austin, the girlfriend/common law wife of Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

She will also soon be seen in Ryan Murphy's comedy musical series for Netflix, The Politician, which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Dylan McDermott and Zoey Deutch.

Lucy is dating her Bohemian Rhapsody co-star, Rami Malek, and attended the 2019 Academy Awards as his date.
