LEN WISEMAN
Len Wiseman began his career by working in the art department for blockbuster hits such as Men in Black and Independence Day. He moved on to directing commercials for PlayStation, Time Warner, Oracle, Intel and Activision and soon began landing gigs directing music videos for artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Megadeath, En Vogue, Static X and Brooke Allison.
Wiseman met writer Danny McBride through their mutual agent at ICM, and the two began collaborating on a feature film screenplay, Underworld. While Wiseman was at work directing the Rufus Wainwright video "Across the Universe" (for which he received a Best Director nomination at the 2002 MVPA Awards), Skip Williamson, the President of Lakeshore Records stopped to watch and was impressed by what he saw. He pushed to have Lakeshore Entertainment put up funding to produce his directorial debut, Underworld (2003). Starring Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman, the story revolves around a vampire and werewolf who fall in love. Wiseman fell in love with Beckinsale while directing the film and the two were married on May 9, 2004. Wiseman also did the 2006 sequel Underworld: Evolution before directing Bruce Willis in Live Free or Die Hard in 2007. Five years later, he had the chance to once again work with his wife who starred in his fourth feature film, Total Recall, a remake of the 1990 film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone.
