LAUREN LAZIN
Lauren Lazin graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Smith College in 1982, then in 1985 received a master's degree in documentary film production from Stanford University. She made her directorial debut with her award-winning student film The Flapper Story. Since then she has directed, produced, written and edited more than 40 documentaries for MTV and PBS.
Lazin is the executive producer of the popular music series MTV Ultra Sound as well as True Life, a critically acclaimed documentary series about social issues affecting young people. Lazin has also directed films for the National Organization of Women. In 1996, the Women's College Coalition named her as a "Role Model of the Year" and featured her in its national Ad Council campaign promoting women's education. She made her feature film directorial debut with the documentary Tupac: Resurrection (2003), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
