KRISTIN CHENOWETH
Date of Birth: July 24, 1968
Kristin Chenoweth is a television, film, and theater actress/singer. She was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma as Kristi but added an "n" because she thought Kristin was a more operatic name.
Chenoweth studied drama at Broken Arrow High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in musical theater and a master's degree in opera performance from Oklahoma City University — which she attended on a full scholarship. After completing these programs, Chenoweth won herself another full scholarship to Philadelphia's Academy of Vocal Arts, but turned it down after she landed a part in Paper Mills Playhouse's production of Animal Crackers.
Chenoweth made her Broadway debut in Moliere's Scapin. She won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and a Tony nomination for her performance as Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked. Chenoweth also starred in the Broadway comedies Epic Proportions and Strike Up the Band, and the musical Steel Pier.
In 2002, Chenoweth released her debut CD Let Yourself Go, and in 2005, she released her second album As I Am. She has performed sold-out solo concerts at Carnegie Hall and Walt Disney Concert Hall and has had numerous collaborations with symphonies, including The New York Philharmonic, The National Symphony Orchestra, The Chicago Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony.
Her most notable television roles include Olive Snook from Pushing Daises, Annabeth Schott on The West Wing, and Kristin Yancey in her own six-episode series Kristin.
Moviegoers are familiar with Chenoweth from the films Bewitched (2005), Deck the Halls (2006), RV (2006), Running with Scissors (2006), The Pink Panther (2006) and a cameo in Stranger Than Fiction (2006). She voices the character Kilowatt in the animated film Space Chimps (2008), and can be seen in the comedy Four Christmases (2008) opposite Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn. Her other projects include a supporting role alongside Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard in the comedy film Hit & Run as well as a recurring role on the television series GCB. She also lent her voice for the animated film Rio 2 (2014).
