Kelly Reilly was born and raised in Chessington, England. Her interest in acting began when two drama teachers took an interest in her when she was 14, and introduced her to theatre. At 16, she performed a monologue during an actor’s showcase. A casting director was in the audience, and asked her to play a small role opposite Helen Mirren in the TV movie Prime Suspect.

She continued to appear in minor roles in television shows such as Bramwell in 1996, two episodes of Ruth Rendell Mysteries in 1996, the 1997 mini-series Rebecca, and the Agatha Christie series Poirot in 2003. From 2009 to 2012 she starred as Anna Travis on the British crime drama Above Suspicion based on the Anna Travis book series by Lynda La Plante. Kelly also kept busy onstage, and earned two Olivier Award nominations. During filming of Above Suspicion she also had time to appear in Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) as Mary Morstan.

When Above Suspicion came to an end, she decided to move to the States, where she quickly landed a role in the motion picture Flight (2012) alongside Denzel Washington.

In 2015, Kelly played the main role of Jordan Semyon, the wife of Vince Vaughn’s character, on the critically acclaimed series True Detective. She went on to star in Yellowstone beginning in 2018, playing Beth Dutton, the daughter of Kevin Costner’s character, Josh Lucas, and is still with the show.

Kelly has been married to financier Kyle Baugher since 2012. The couple live in New York City.
