Jim Parsons was born in Houston, Texas and got his first taste of acting when he was six years old, playing a bird in a school play. After graduating from Klein Oak High School in Harris County, Texas, Jim studied theatre at the University of Houston, where he appeared in 17 plays over the course of three years, such as Endgame, Guys and Dolls, Othello and Cherry Orchard. Jim would go on to a Masters course at the University of San Diego and then moved to New York, where he worked in off-Broadway productions and TV commercials. In 2004 he landed a recurring role on the TV series Judging Amy.

Jim would reach TV stardom in 2006 when he was cast as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. In 2011, he won a Golden Globe for his role on the show.
