JESSICA SIMPSON
Date of Birth: July 10, 1980
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jessica Simpson began singing contemporary Christian music at an early age. By the time she was in junior high school, she'd recorded and released a Christian album and was sharing the bill with gospel greats Kirk Franklin and Ce Ce Winans. At 17, Jessica signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. Her first major label debut, Sweet Kisses, was released in 1999 and contained hit singles such as "I Wanna Love You Forever," "I Think I'm In Love," and "Where You Are." Jessica began touring and in 2001 released a follow-up album, Irresistible, which climbed the music charts. She then began to pursue a career as a country singer.
In 2002 she made her acting debut with a recurring role on That '70s show. The same year, she married singer Nick Lachey of the band 98 Degrees. Approached by MTV to do a reality series called Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, the couple agreed and they found their celebrity reaching an all-time high. Unfortunately, the relationship fell apart and Simpson filed for divorce late in 2005.
Jessica continued to act with a guest appearance on The Twilight Zone, in between filming her own show and hosting music/variety shows. She made her feature film debut as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard (2005), a remake of the popular TV series.
Her younger sister, Ashlee Simpson, also sings and acts and occasionally the sisters perform together. In her spare time Jessica enjoys shopping. She is a Youth Ambassador for Operation Smile, a charity that provides free reconstructive surgery for children and young adults around the world who would otherwise be unable to afford it.
She began dating former pro football player Eric Johnson in May 2010. They became engaged in November 2010 and Jessica announced that she was expecting her first child with Eric on her website on October 31, 2011.
