JAUME COLLET-SERRA

In the early '90s, Jaume Collet-Serra moved from Barcelona, Spain to Los Angeles to attend film school. After graduating, he began his career as an editor. From there, he moved into directing music videos, including "Esperanza" by Enrique Iglesias, and then commercials for products such as Playstation, Budweiser, Mastercard, Miller Lite, Pontiac, Smirnoff Ice, Renault, JT Roots (starring Brad Pitt) and 7UP.
Jaume made his feature film debut with the horror/suspense film House of Wax (2005), starring Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthbert. A remake of the 1953 film of the same name, the film was made on a budget of $40 million, but only earned back $32 million at the domestic box office. However, it kicked off the filmmaker's career.
He turned to a completely different genre with the sports drama Goal II: Living the Dream (2007), then returned to his horror roots with Orphan (2009), his biggest box office earner to date.
His next film, Unknown (2011), a thriller that starred Liam Neeson as a man who wakes from a coma to discover someone else has taken on his identity, was an even bigger hit at the box office, taking in $64 million domestically.
He cast Neeson in his next two films: Non-Stop (2014) and Run All Night (2015), then worked with him again in The Commuter (2018). In between these films, Jaume directed Blake Lively in the suspense film The Shallows (2016), about a surfer whose route back to shore is cut off by a great white shark.
Although he doesn't do much television work, Jaume directed two episodes of the ABC action/adventure series The River in 2012 and one episode of the NBC sci-fi series Reverie, in 2018.
In a complete change of genre, Disney trusted Jaume to take the helm of the family adventure Jungle Cruise (2020), starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt and based on one of their most popular Disney Parks' rides.
