ICE CUBE
Date of Birth: June 15, 1969
Born of Southern parents in Los Angeles, Ice Cube was educated in the Phoenix Institute of Technology. He first came into public notice as a singer and songwriter in the band N.W.A. (Niggers With Attitudes).
After a number of hit songs and albums, Ice left the band to pursue a solo career. Alone, he created commercially and critically acclaimed albums. He has at least six albums, selling a over 10 million copies in total - his second album "Death Certificate" sold two million copies alone. But he didn't keep his musical talent all to himself. He's discovered a number of artists including K-Dee, Mack 10 and YoYo, and has worked with fellow musicians Public Enemy, Red Hot Chili Peppers and George Clinton to name a few.
Ice Cube started doing films in 1990 starting with his debut film, Boyz N the Hood. This led to more roles in such films as Trespass (1994), Dangerous Ground (1997) and Anaconda (1997). Not a guy to shy away from any challenge, Ice decided to transfer his songwriting talents to script writing. His first screenwriting attempt became a reality when the film Friday (1995) was made. Because of the success of this film, he created a sequel, Next Friday (1999). He has a production Company called Cubevision, and has directed a number of music videos including ones for Color Me Badd, The Artist Formally known As Prince, as well as his own. He also continued acting in Rampart (2011) alongside Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster, 21 Jump Street (2012) with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, and Ride Along (2014) with Kevin Hart.
His latest films include 22 Jump Street (2014), Ride Along 2 (2016), Barbershop: A Fresh Cut (2016), xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017) with Vin Diesel, and Fist Fight (2017) with Charlie Day.
With all his success and triumphs over two industries, Ice Cube keeps a cool head on his shoulders. "I'm cool and I try to be approachable. I don't have a big entourage and anyone who wants to talk to me can," he says.
