Born in Leytonstone, an area in East London, England, Harris Dickinson announced himself onto the scene in Eliza Hittman’s film Beach Rats (2017). Cast as Frankie, a young man struggling with his sexuality, Harris received critical acclaim for the role and numerous award nominations, including at the Independent Spirit Awards for Best Male Lead, and the Gotham Awards for Breakthrough Actor.

Growing up, Harris had considered acting as a career but questioned the potential for it to be sustainable. Before his breakout, Harris had been picking up odd jobs since the age of 14. Some of these included teaching drama to kids, delivering hotel room service, and picking up garbage on the London Bridge, which was Harris’ favorite. Despite the oddity of the jobs, Harris believes they aided in developing his wok ethic in filmmaking.

At the age of 16, Harris had considered dropping out of school to be a runner on a Nollywood film before he was talked out of it by his mother. Not to long after, he considered joining the Royal Marines before being talked out of it by a teacher and encouraged to give drama school a chance.

Now Harris has established himself in the industry. Since 2017, Harris has had numerous roles in television and film. In 2023, Harris appeared in the FX series A Murder at the End of the World starring Emma Corrin. Harris received praise for his role as William "Bill" Farrah and received a BAFTA nomination for Supporting Actor.

On the big screen Harris appeared alongside Amandla Stenberg and Mandy Moore in The Darkest Mind (2018), his first blockbuster in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019) with Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning, and he played the son of Ralph Fiennes in The King's Man (2021).

He appeared in the Oscar-nominated Ruben Östlund film, Triangle of Sadness (2022), and alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Taylor John Smith in Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).

Harris’ star continues to grow as he most recently starred in Babygirl (2024) alongside Nicole Kidman, which has received strong awards consideration.
Harris is rumored to be starring in a series of biopics about The Beatles alongside Paul Mescal, Charlie Rowe, and Barry Keoghan, with Harris potentially playing John Lennon.
