Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Halle made her movie debut at age five in Last Holiday (2006) starring Queen Latifah, along with her sister Chloe, who was eight at the time. The following year, Halle landed a role on two episodes of Tyler Perry's sitcom  House of Payne, which was filmed in Atlanta.  

In 2012 Halle and Chloe moved to Los Angeles with their family to further their careers. The girls, who had been taught to write songs by their father, Doug Bailey, had formed a musical R&B duo aptly titled Chloe x Halle. They posted videos of their musical performances on YouTube, including a cover of Beyoncé's song "Best Thing I Never Had" that went viral. 

In 2016, they were signed to Beyoncé's label, Parkwood Entertainment. Their debut album, The Kids are Alright, was released in 2018 and went on to earn two Grammy nominations. The same year, they landed roles on the sitcom Grown-ish as sisters Sky and Jazz Forster and stayed with the show until 2022.

In 2019, it was announced that Halle had landed the starring role of Princess Ariel in Disney's live-action remake, The Little Mermaid (2023). When the movie released, it received rave reviews. 

Halle, who also has a little brother named Branson, enjoys swimming, running, bicycling, and making beaded earrings and necklaces. Halle lives in Los Angeles with her sister and her cat, Poseidon, whom she adopted in 2021.
