Evelyne Brochu was born in Québec, Canada, where her native language was French. She learned English at an early age and through her schooling at Jean XXIII High School. Afterwards, she attended Cégep de Saint-Laurent, a French-speaking college, where she studied acting and dance and later graduated from Conservatoire d'art dramatique, a higher education school specializing in music, dance and theatre.

After being hit by a truck while riding her bike, she was hospitalized for weeks.  Realizing she couldn't continue as a dancer, Evelyne decided to focus on acting. She made her television debut on a soap opera called The Promise (2008) and her film debut with another French-speaking role in Cheech (2006) as a pharmacist. She has since had many notable French-speaking roles in movies and on shows, including playing Stéphanie in Polytechnique (2009), Rose in Café de Flore (2011), Chloé in Inch'Allah (2012), and Sara in Tom at the Farm (2013).

She is known for her English-speaking role as Delphine Cormier on the hit series Orphan Black (2013) and she plays the starring role in the film French Girl (2024).

Evelyne has been nominated five times and won one award for her acting. She was nominated for the 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role and the 2013 Canadian Screen Awards for Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role. She won the 2017 Golden Reel Award for Best Actor at the Tiburon International Film Festival.

Evelyne also has a successful singing career, with two albums, called Objets Perdus (2019) and Le Danger (2023).

She lives in Québec, and is not only fluent in French and English, she can also speak Spanish. She has three children with her partner Nicolas Schirmer, including a son named Laurier (b. 2018) and twins named Camille and Matthias (b. 2020).
