EUGENIO DERBEZ

Date of Birth: September 2, 1962

Born in Milpa Alta, Mexico, Eugenio Derbez is one of the most beloved and influential showbiz personalities in Mexico. Born to an actress and a publicist, he first appeared at age 12 on a telenovela as a background performer. However, he didn't begin acting classes until he was 19, after which he began acting professionally on stage.

Eugenio made his Mexican television debut in 1981 and appeared on many series over the next few years. He made his feature film debut in Más vale amada que quemada (1990) and by then it was clear that Eugenio was a comic genius.

In 1993 he began directing television episodes of various shows, and went on to become the star, writer, director, producer, and creator of some of the most popular Spanish language TV shows of all time, including Al Derecho y Al Derbez, Derbez en cuando, XHDRBZ, Vecinos and La familia P. Luche.

In 2006 he made his American feature film debut in National Lampoon's TV: The Movie alongside Steve-O from Jackass fame. By 2011 he was appearing in Adam Sandler's film Jack and Jill, plyaing the dual role of Felipe/Felipe's grandmother and in 2012, he was cast in the CBS TV sitcom Rob, created by and starring Rob Schneider.

Eugenio co-wrote, directed and starred in the Mexican feature film Instructions Not Included/No se aceptan devoluciones (2013). The movie became the most successful Spanish-language film ever in the U.S. and worldwide, and broke numerous box office records, earning over $100 million.

In 2014 he was recognized by Variety as the #1 most influential Hispanic male in the world.

In the 2016 movie Miracles In Heaven, Eugenio played a supporting role alongside Jennifer Garner as an upbeat children's doctor who keeps children with serious illnesses entertained.

Eugenio took on a starring role in the Lionsgate big screen comedy How to Be a Latin Lover (2017), which he also co-produced. In it, he plays a man who has to move in with his sister (Salma Hayek) when he's dumped by his elderly sugar mama. No spring chicken himself, he finds he's grown out of his line of work.

Hi latest works include roles in films such as Geostorm (2017), Overboard (2018), The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018) and the family adventure film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019).

Eugenio has an adult daughter Aislinn Derbez (b. 1986), who's also an actress. Her mother is actress Gabriel Michel. Eugenio also has two sons (Vadhir, José Eduardo) from his five year marriage to his first wife, Victoria and a daughter with his second wife, Alessandra, whom he married in 2012.
