ERIC DANE
Date of Birth: November 9, 1972
Born in San Francisco, Eric Dane began performing in amateur plays when he was in high school.
After moving to Los Angeles, Dane began landing appearances on shows such as Saved by the Bell, The Wonder Years and Married with Children. He made his film debut in 1999, in the small budget movie The Basket, starring Peter Coyote and Karen Allen.
Dane's first recurring role was on Gideon's Crossing (2001), playing the first of many doctors he would wind up portraying. From there, he played another recurring role on the short-lived series The American Embassy, then wound up playing a recurring guest role on the hit series Charmed.
It wasn't until he joined the cast of the hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy in 2006, playing cosmetic surgeon Dr. Mark Sloane, that he gained no small degree of fame. For his part in the show, he shared a 2007 "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble" SAG Award with the rest of the cast. During breaks from filming the show, Dane has managed to fit in supporting roles in big budget productions such as X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and in Marley & Me (2008), opposite Owen Wilson.
In real life, Dane has been married to actress Rebecca Gayheart since 2004.
