ED HELMS

Date of Birth: January 24, 1974

Ed Helms was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and headed to New York City to pursue comedy shortly after attending Oberlin College in Ohio.

Ed is familiar to television audiences from his scene-stealing role as Andy Bernard, Dunder Mifflin's irrepressible salesman-with-anger-management-issues, on NBC's hit comedy The Office. In addition to appearances on Comedy Central's Premium Blend and FOX's Arrested Development, Ed also enjoyed a four-year stint as a Senior Correspondent on the Emmy Award-winning The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, for which he also wrote.

On the big screen, Ed has appeared in films such as Evan Almighty (2007), Semi-Pro (2008), Meet Dave (2008), Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008), Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009), The Hangover (2009) along with its second part in 2011 and third installment in 2013. He also played the voice of The Once-ler in Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (2012) and starred in the comedy Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2012) alongside Jason Segel.

Along with reprising his role as Stu in The Hangover Part III in 2013, he also played a supporting role in We're the Millers (2013), starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. Over the next couple of years, he starred in the crime comedy Stretch (2014) alongside Patrick Wilson, the family comedy Vacation (2015) opposite Christina Applegate, as well as Love the Coopers (2015), a holiday ensemble comedy starring Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, and John Goodman.

Ed made a hilarious cameo appearance in Kevin Hart's stand-up comedy documentary Kevin Hart: What Now? (2016) and lent his voice to the animated comedy Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017) with Kevin Hart and Jordan Peele. More recently, he played the role of Joe Gargan in the biopic Chappaquiddick (2018), about the tragic incident in which senator Ted Kennedy drove a car off a bridge, leaving a woman to drown as he escaped. He also starred alongside Jeremy Renner in the comedy Tag (2018) and narrated Disney's Penguins (2019).

Also a talented writer, he sold a comedy pitch with writing partner Jacob Fleischer to Warner Bros. through Steve Carell's Carousel Productions, about Civil War re-enactors.

Ed lives in Los Angeles and plays a mean banjo.
