ED DECTER

Date of Birth: 1959

Born in New Jersey, Decter studied film and English at Wesleyan University. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1981 after winning a filmmaking grant from the American Film Institute.

Making his initial mark directing commercials and music videos, Decter met future business partner, John Strauss, during an industry softball league in Los Angeles. The two collaborated in writing a number of screenplays including Options, released in 1988, There's Something About Mary (1998), and Head Over Heals (2001).

Decter also work extensively in television during the '90s, writing and producing a number of series including Boy Meets World, Chicago Sons and The Closer. Besides television, Decter has also produced feature films such as Head Over Heels (2001) and made his directorial debut with The New Guy (2002).
