DAVID ATKINS
This Columbia University M.F.A. graduate received his first taste of the
feature film industry when a director decided to take his thesis script,
Arizona Dream, and turn it into a feature film. The project, which
starred Johnny Depp, Faye Dunaway and Jerry Lewis, became a cult favourite in
the States, and won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
After the success of Arizona Dream, Atkins relocated to Los Angeles
where he became a studio screenwriter. In 1997 Atkins was determined to
achieve greater control over his scripts and after writing the dental comedy
Novocaine, he took over the director's chair for the first time.
Atkins currently lives in New York with his wife and child.
