DANIEL TAPLITZ

Daniel Taplitz's first major show business credit came as a writer, when he penned the screenplay for TriStar Pictures' feature film comedy The Squeeze (1987), starring Michael Keaton. For his next project, Taplitz turned to television, writing and directing Nightlife (1990) for the USA Network. His next TV movie, which he also wrote and directed, was the comedy/horror Black Magic (1992), starring Judge Reinhold.

He made his feature film directorial/screenwriting debut with Commandments (1997), starring Aidan Quinn as a man who thinks he has been singled out to be punished by God when his wife dies, so he sets about breaking each of the Ten Commandments. The movie didn't strike a chord either with critics or the movie-going public, so Taplitz went back to writing for television for the next few years.

With Breakin' All the Rules (2004), Taplitz returned to the big screen both as a director and writer for this comedy about a man (played by Jamie Foxx) who is inspired to write a best-selling book for men on how to handle relationship breakups when his fiancée dumps him.
