CHRISTOPHE BARRATIER
The son of French actress/movie publicist Eva Simonet, Christophe Barratier studied at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris and began his career as a classical guitarist, winning several international competitions. In 1991, he was hired by Jacques Perrin to join Galatée Films, where he served as associate producer on several movies, including Winged Migration (2001).
Barratier went on to direct his first short, Les Tombales (2002), which was broadcast on French TV and screened at several film festivals. He next wrote, directed and composed the music for his first feature length film, The Chorus/Les Choristes (2005). The movie won the Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival and has been nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Foreign Language Film at the BAFTA Awards.
