Carlos Diehz was born in 1971 and raised in Mexico City. As a child, Carlos was shy but expressed an interest in acting. Growing up, he was a fan of Mexican cinema and was an admirer of the Mexican actor Pedro Infante. Carlos would go on to try theater in high school but stated that the outgoing and flashy nature of his fellow students was too much for him.

An architect by trade for 30 years and now living in Vancouver since 2009, Carlos found acting again in his late 40s just after the COVID-19 pandemic hit. With his children having moved out, Carlos wanted to learn something new. He ended up taking an online acting workshop where he really took to the material.

Carlos found some similarities between architecture and acting, saying that both are creative businesses, and both require meeting numerous standards placed on you by others.

Carlos' career in acting started small by appearing in student and short films such as It Gets Dark Too Early (2022) and The Vegan Vampire (2022).

His breakthrough came when he was cast in Edward Berger's papal thriller Conclave (2022) as Cardinal Benítez. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci, Sergio Castelitto, and Isabella Rossellini.

Surrounded by such legendary performers, Carlos made sure to keep the mindset that he belonged there with them. He also credits the cast and crew for being open to any questions and reciprocating that feeling of belonging.

Currently Carlos has no immediate plans to quit his job in architecture but is committed to pursing acting further.
