Brenton Thwaites was born in Carins, Queensland, Australia. The young Aussie got a head start in his acting career during his college years after he enrolled at the Queensland University of Technology to study acting. Before he graduated in 2010, he made his feature film debut in the independent film Charge Over You (2010). After completing his university degree, he moved to Sydney in order to pursue a full-time acting career.
Following his relocation to Sydney, Brenton enjoyed a successful television career, appearing in several prominent Australian shows before landing the recurring role of bad boy Stu Henderson in the popular soap opera, Home and Away. Brenton also boasts a TV movie role in a remake of the 1980 film Blue Lagoon. He landed his first major film role in the horror flick Oculus. Brenton’s acting experience has given him exposure to many A-list stars – he appears in Disney’s Maleficent alongside Angelina Jolie and in The Giver alongside Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. Most recently, he starred Ride (2015), Gods of Egypt (2016) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017).
Brenton previously dated Australian model Jessica Campion in 2012. He has also been linked to country superstar Taylor Swift — his co-star in The Giver — after an appearance they made together at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
