Born into a showbiz family in Tarzana, California, Blake Lively made her film debut at age 10 as the Tooth Fairy in the indie film, Sandman (1998), directed by her father, Ernie Lively, a well-known character actor with over 100 screen credits. Blake's mother is a talent agent, while her older siblings Lori, Jason, Eric and Robyn are all established actors themselves. However, Blake decided to concentrate on school first, becoming class president and a cheerleader before returning to acting.
Just before beginning her senior year of high school, Blake landed a starring role opposite Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn in the major motion picture The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, with her real-life dad playing her screen father.
In 2007, she was cast in a starring role on the popular new series Gossip Girl, essentially becoming a household name. She returned to her role as Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008) and during hiatus from her TV show, has filmed several movies, including The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009), The Town (2010), Green Lantern (2011) and Savages (2012).
In 2010, she was named #4 in Maxim's Top 10 Beautiful Women list. She was also featured in TIME magazine's list of 100 influential people and was named most desirable woman in 2011 by AskMen. In the Spring of 2011, Blake was wooed by A-list actor Leonardo DiCaprio. The pair dated for about five months before splitting in October. Shortly after, she began dating her Green Lantern co-star, Ryan Reynolds. After less than seven months together, the couple bought a $2 million country home in New York and on September 9, 2012, the two were married. In 2012, People magazine named Blake as one of the Most Beautiful at Every Age.
Also in the second decade of the millennium, she starred in the romantic drama The Age of Adaline (2015), the period comedy Café Society (2016), the horror The Shallows (2016), the drama All I See Is You (2017) and the thriller A Simple Favor (2018).
With the action/thriller A Rhythm Section (2020), Blake went into full-out action hero mode as a woman whose family is killed in a plane crash, only to find out the plane was bombed by terrorists.
Following a break for the pandemic and to concentrate on family, Blake provided the voice of Octopuss in the hit film IF (2024), directed and written by John Krasinski. Later that year, she played Lady Deadpool alongside her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). She also starred in the romantic drama It Ends With Us (2024) opposite Justin Baldoni, who also directed the film.
Blake and her husband Ryan have three daughters and one son together.
