Beanie Feldstein (née Elizabeth Feldstein) was born in Los Angeles, California to Sharon Lyn, a costume designer and fashion stylist, and Richard Feldstein, a tour accountant for Guns N' Roses. She graduated from Wesleyan University in 2015. She is the younger sister of actor Jonah Hill and music manager Jordan Feldstein, who passed away in 2017.

Beanie attended Stagedoor Manor, a theater camp in New York. She made her acting debut on the ABC comedy series My Wife and Kids (2002). She was then was cast as Megan in the musical television pilot Madison High (2012).

In 2015, Beanie appeared as a guest in the third season of the successful Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, and then played the role of Anna in the film Fan Girl. She played a major role in the comedy Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), alongside Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. She also appeared in Will & Grace (2017) as Stella.

In 2017, Beanie made her Broadway debut as Minnie Fay in the production Hello, Dolly! alongside Bette Midler. She also co-starred in Greta Gerwig's solo directorial debut Lady Bird, alongside Saoirse Ronan, which was nominated for five Academy Awards.

She plays a lead role in Olivia Wilde's directorial debut, Booksmart (2019) and stars alongside Emma Thompson in the British film, How to Build a Girl (2019).
