Date of Birth: February 21, 1946

British actor Anthony Daniels was a young stage actor when he was approached in 1975 by director George Lucas to play the droid C-3PO in a new film to be called Star Wars.

Anthony thought it was a low budget film, and he wasn't interested at first because he wasn't a science fiction fan. He was one of hundreds of actors asked to meet with George Lucas to discuss the role, but he turned it down. Luckily, Anthony's agent finally persuaded him to go on the interview after all.

Lucas was interested in Anthony's mime skills, because the actor playing C-3PO would have to rely on gestures and movement, rather than facial expressions. After meeting with Lucas and reading the script, Anthony changed his mind and during a phone call with Lucas, he asked if he could have the part, and the director replied, "Sure."

That was the beginning of a whole new adventure for Anthony, whose career took off. He has since been the only actor to appear in all seven Star Wars films and has also voiced C-3PO on many television series, including Star Wars: the Clone Wars and several Lego Star Wars TV movies.

He's also had, on occasion, opportunities to play other characters, including on the Canadian TV series The Edison Twins, filmed in Toronto, and British TV series such as Three Up Two Down, Singles, Square Deal and Doctors.

Also a talented writer, Anthony produced a comic book for Dark Horse, entitled The Protocol Offensive. His writing skills were also called upon by Hasbro Interactive for their Star Wars Monopoly.

Anthony lives in London, England, with his wife, Christine Savage.
