ALEX CAMPBELL
Date of Birth: May 4, 1984
Alex Campbell was born in Ontario, Canada, to a family of performers. His older siblings are Christian Campbell and Neve Campbell, both of whom have enjoyed great success as actors. Their father, Gerry Campbell, is a drama teacher at a Mississauga high school while their mother, Marnie Neve, worked as an HIV/AIDS educator and counselor.
Alex followed in his sister's steps at an early age. She'd been accepted to Canada's National Ballet School at the age of nine, and several years later, Alex was also accepted and spent three years there, learning to dance and perform.
His first television role was as "Vampire Boy" in the 1996 Goosebumps episode "The Haunted Mask II," before landing a regular role on the Canadian soap opera Riverdale. The following year he was chosen to portray Emil, a chubby, bellicose boy with an abusive father in the PAX television series Little Men, shot in the Toronto area. The series ran for two years and provided Alex with recognition. After playing Billy in the Disney Channel movie A Saintly Switch (1999), helmed by famed Oscar-nominated director Peter Bogdanovich, he ran into a dry spell as he went through a growth spurt.
Newly slim, Alex began to work steadily again in 2001, starting with a small role in the feature film Don't Say a Word starring Michael Douglas, followed by a guest appearance on an episode of the Disney channel's The Famous Jett Jackson. A supporting role in the CTV telefilm Verdict in Blood (2002) and small parts in the Canadian feature Perfect Pie (2002) and the American film Dreamcatcher (2003), starring Morgan Freeman, followed.
Campbell finally landed his first starring role in the Canadian film Siblings (2005), as the eldest brother in a dysfunctional family.
