Like many Jewish textile merchants, Eddie Vuibert moves from the Paris district of Sentier to settle in the more prosperous suburbs of Aubervilliers, but finds competition with Chinese wholesalers is fierce. When his business is compromised by a case of Chinese counterfeit watches, Eddie turns to Simon, a competitor who offers to save him buying his business. Discovering that Simon is the one who trapped him, Eddie develops an ambitious revenge, with the help of his friends—compulsive liar Serge, Dov the ladykiller, Yvan the salesman and Patrick the wheeler-dealer millionaire.
