In the early morning hours, after a night of drinking and gambling at a casino, Gab, a law student, hits a boy of North African origin with his luxury car, envoking the anger of the boy's older sister, Leila. Sheepishly, the young man tries to make amends with the latter, with whom he immediately falls in love. Tina, an illegal African immigrant, who's like a surrogate mother to Leila, convinces her to accept Gab's apology. When Tina is stopped by immigration authorities and brutally separated from her baby girl, who was born in France, Gab begs his father, the chief of police, to intervene. He agrees, but on condition that the young man marries his childhood friend, Alexandra.
