Mrs. Miniver (1942)
A British family struggles to cope with the changes in their lives caused by World War II. Vin Miniver falls in love with Carol, the daughter of the crotchety village matriarch. As romance grows, German bombs begin to decimate the countryside and a downed German aviator seeks refuge with the Minivers. Their home is bombed and the village church reduced to rubble, but Mrs. Miniver keeps her family together and the village pulls through.
