Le Nèg
In the Quebec countryside, sergeant-detectives Racine and Plante investigate a crime that occurred the night before, when a young black man destroyed a black garden gnome in front of an old widow’s home. Cédulie, the widow was fatally shot by her own rifle and the black man, shot by a police officer’s bullet, is in a coma. Detective Racine questions the witnesses who were there the day before. Initially Bertrand, Cédulie’s neighbor, then Canard and Tâton, who were accompanied by Josée, now in a state of shock, and Samantha, a dancer, are questioned by Detective Plante. But another witness, Cédulie’s son, the mentally impaired Polo, could help to uncover the truth of the lies in all of the contradictory statements.
