In the summer of 1944 in the Quebec countryside, Georges Guénette is killed by RCMP officers a few months after deserting the army. Like many French Canadians at the time, Georges didn't want to go to Europe to fight in a war which seemed to defend mainly the interests of the British.
Wanting to present the only son of poor farmers as a martyr of the policy of Prime Minister Adélard Godbout, who was favorable to the conscription, journalist Roger Vézina obtains testimony from Georges' parents, who help reconstruct the sequence of events and the misunderstandings which led to Georges being hunted down and killed.
