L'Auberge Espagnole
Xavier, a 25-year-old Parisian student, is offered a job with the Ministry of Finance by a friend of his father. But the position requires a working knowledge of Spanish, so the young man agrees to live in Barcelona for one year. When he arrives, he first gets lodging with a French neurologist, Jean-Michel, and his wife, the reserved Anne-Sophie. Then Xavier moves to an apartment with five other students: Wendy, who is British; Italian Alessandro, Barnabi from Germany, Lars from Denmark and his Spanish girlfriend Soledad. A little later Isabelle, a lesbian, becomes the seventh tenant. Thanks to her advice, Xavier manages to seduce Anne-Sophie just before his girlfriend from Paris, Martine, decides to break up with him.
