La Brunante
Having been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Madeleine, a proud woman of 72, goes at the edge of the St. Lawrence River with the intent of throwing herself in. At the same time, Zoe, a 35-year-old misfit, tries to escape from people to whom she owes drug money. Madeleine intervenes in an unforeseen way and is pulled away from taking her tragic step.
Zoe is convinced to accompany the septuagenarian on her final visit to the places and people who meant something to her. During the stopovers and meetings between Montreal and Percé the two women develop a strong intimacy. But whereas Zoe finally seems to have drawn a line on her past, Madeleine’s begins to erode in her memory.
