Celebrated jazz trumpeter Lee Morgan achieved fame in his late teens. He recorded numerous jazz albums during the 1960s, with The Sidewinder, released in 1963, as his greatest commercial success.
Lee was playing at the jazz club Slug's Saloon in New York City in the early morning hours of February 19, 1972. He and his common-law wife Helen had an argument between sets and she subsequently shot him. Because it was a very snowy night, the ambulance took a long time to get there and he bled to death before they arrived. He was 33 years old. Swedish filmmaker Kasper Collin crafted this documentary as a love letter to two unique personalities and the music that brought them together.
