Dr. Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) moves into a new apartment building two miles west of London, hoping to enjoy anonymity. The building is divided into classes, with cheaper rents for the lower apartments, but they also have none of the amenities the upper apartment dwellers enjoy.
With an apartment located at the top of the building, Laing enjoys his surroundings and the benefits of being one of the more privileged. However, as the complex social dynamics unfold around him, the poor people on the lower floors become angry about the constant power outages and the other inequities they have to endure. The lights go out and the elevators fail as the lower classes launch a revolution.
Based on the dystopian novel "High-Rise" by J.G. Ballard.
