Paris, 1942. Younes, an Algerian immigrant supporting himself through the black market, is arrested following a police raid on his cousin Ali, a member of the Resistance. In exchange for his freedom, Younes is persuaded to become an informer, reporting the names of public figures who visit the Paris mosque. Particularly those who engage in communication with its rector, Si Kaddour Ben Ghabrit, who's suspected of helping the Resistance and of providing false papers to Jews. Breaking his pact with the police, Younes informes Ghabrit that he's under surveillance.
