In a moment of despair, Anna, a lonely young woman who lives with her mother in a small Paris apartment, throws herself in front of a car. Waking up in the hospital, she falls madly in love with her doctor, André Zanevsky. After being released from the hospital, she asks the doctor to have a coffee with her, and he accepts out of politeness. When he realizes the depth of her fixation, he tries to distance himself, but instead, the situation becomes worse. Worried about his safety and that of his wife, he decides to move away from Paris. But Anna still won't let him go...
