A Thousand Months
Amina arrives from the city with Mehdi, her seven-year-old son, to settle in with her father-in-law Ahmed in a small village by the Atlas mountains. Mehdi's father is in prison for organizing a labor strike, but Amina and Ahmed tell the boy that his father has gone to work in France. Mehdi quickly gains the confidence of his teacher, who gives him the responsibility of carrying his chair to school everyday. He also forms a friendship with Malika, a neighbor girl who tells him the truth about his father. Little by little, this new life begins to weigh heavily on Mehdi and his mother, both sensitive to the injustices which surround them.
