The Luzhin Defense

Set in the late 1920s, a beautiful, wealthy Russian woman, Natalia (Watson), spends her holiday at a hotel in Italy which is hosting the Chess Championships. She meets the eccentric chess Grand Master, Luzhin (Turturro), a tortured genius exploited by his teacher (Wilson).

Despite the fact she is about to marry the very suitable Comte de Stassard, and against her parents' wishes, Natalia begins to fall in love with Luzhin and decides to show him a world he's never known.
