Set in the 1940s, CW Briggs (Allen) is the top insurance investigator in
New York (at least the new efficiency expert (Hunt) thinks so). Briggs
believes he can crack any insurance case by getting into the mind of the
thief.
But when a burglar gets away with a trinket called the Jade Scorpion and discovers it possesses hypnotic powers, the thief gains the ability to get into Briggs' mind.
