Paulette, once a successful restaurateur, is now reduced to rummaging in dumpsters to eat. She lives alone in a housing project in the Paris suburbs. When she can no longer pay the bills, she’s forced to find money for her rent or be evicted. She approaches a drug dealer named Vito and tells him she wants to sell drugs. When he stops laughing, he agrees and she gets impressive results quickly. When Paulette begins baking hashish into pastries and cakes, she attracts so many customers that she has to recruit her friends to help her in order to meet the demand.
