Paul Susser, the literary executor of the late playwright and poet Samuel Beckett, receives a visit from actress Lucia Martell. She wants to stage Beckett’s play Krapp’s Last Tape, in which she’ll play the character of Krapp, Beckett's alter ego.
At first reluctant to the idea, the reclusive writer finds a new source of inspiration in the young woman, as he remembers his numerous meetings in a Parisian bistro with the late author. Spread over a period of two decades, these nocturnal meetings gave Susser, a young poet, a chance to get to know his idol and hear him talk about his passion for chess, writing, and the sound of words and languages.
