Deep Blue Sea
Almost 25 years after Jaws first swam onto the screen comes Deep Blue Sea, described as a cross between Jaws and Jurassic Park.
At a time when sheep are being cloned and human ears are being farmed on mice, this film could make jumpy scientists think twice about messing around with nature. Dr. Susan McAlester (Burrows) is a researcher on the verge of a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Believing the cure lies in the brain tissue of mako sharks, she begins injecting the sea creatures with hormones that make their brains (and subsequently the rest of their bodies) bigger.
As the sharks get smarter and more powerful, they rebel against the vivisection, smashing the giant glass holding tanks and scaring the living daylights out of the aquatic lab crew, including shark experts Carter Blake (Jane), Scoggins (Rapaport), Dr. Whitlock (Skarsgard), Russell Franklin (Jackson) and a chef called Preacher (LL Cool J).
