An eventful day in a Parisian museum frequented by a motley crowd. British tourists are unable to properly pronounce the name of Paul Gauguin. Two provincial couples, including a chauvinist, are only interested in the Impressionists. The Minister of Culture inaugurates an exhibition of photos of penises. Visitors become unwitting participants in a work of art. A family searches for their car on the Rembrant parking floor. Meanwhile, in the basement, an employee who is preparing an exhibition on African art discovers an illegal immigrant from Senegal in a shipping box. Engaged in a crazy struggle to keep plants and animals out of his museum, such as ivy on the walls or tadpoles in the bathrooms, the curator may not be able to prevent the destruction of the building by unleashed forces of nature.
