A great, mid-priced, single-screen theater.

The Gem Theatre is possibly the oldest cinema I know. This doesn't effect much but the atmosphere considering it burned down some decades ago, but it's a neat piece of history. The prices for concessions and tickets are acceptable. My only complaint is you're not guaranteed the blockbuster you've been following since day one will appear, what with the theatre only having a single screen. Still, the ambience is enjoyable and the sound and picture are nice. There's no ripples from the projector or anything. My only complaint lies in the patrons, many of who are teenagers, which the town has a large population of. This means any serious moment in a film with any hype will likely be clowned on, and I've had my fair share of kiddos tip-tapping on their cellphones throughout the movie and chitchatting to their friends. Overall a good experience, but avoid anything meme-worthy or marketed towards young adults unless you're willing to deal with not-so-hushed giggling throughout the film.
What a hometown theatre should be like!
